We are joining the Florence Chamber’s 12 th Annual Wine & Chowder Trail. It will be making a stop again this year at the Florence Events Center, Saturday, February 18 th from 10am – 5pm and Sunday, February 19 th , from 11am – 4pm. Not only can you experience a taste of wine from our regional wineries but enjoy the art and fine craftsmanship of our local artisans. Florence Regional Arts Alliance is the organizer for the Festival, bringing together both local and regional artists and craftsmen to fill the booths, with their latest creations. Just a sample: works of art in wood; art for the garden; fiber creations of all kinds from hand- painted silk, felted and quilted items, to knit & crochet items to wear; glass works of art; jewelry designs in various media; pottery, paintings, photography and more. I will be teaching acrylic pouring. All supplies will provide all the supplies along with refreshments. I will show you 3 different techniques. The Friends of the Siuslaw Public Library District will hold their Spring Book Sale Saturday, March 11th, from 10-4 and Sunday from 10-3 at the Siuslaw Public Library, 1460 9th Street in Florence. Current members of the Friends can get in early, at 9am on Saturday. Memberships can be purchased at the door. DVDs, CDs, hardback and soft cover trade paperbacks only $1.00 each. Pocket paperbacks 50 cents each. Sturdy cotton book bags with custom artwork by local artist Karen Nichols are $10.00 each (empty), or if you pay $15.00, all the books, DVDs and CDs you can fit in the bag are free!

Pysanky Egg Decorating Workshop

COST: $26 per person. Pre-registration is required at least 24hrs in advance for this workshop. INCLUDES: All materials and instruction. The Ukranian method of Pysanky, or wax-resist egg dyeing, has been around for generations, and is a traditional gift given on special occasions. Perfect for your Easter gatherings! Kassy Keppol, professional children's book illustrator & the brains behind Dragon Art Florence, will demonstrate the step-by-step process of layering wax-resist designs and dyes onto a hollow egg to create a unique and beautiful keepsake. This workshop will be hosted open- house style; drop in anytime between 2pm-5pm to work on your egg project. Make it a family night, or a memorable date night experience! Please plan for up to two hours of working and cleanup time. Suitable for adults, teens, and kids with parental/adult assistance. Experience with drawing, painting or crafting is helpful, but not necessary.
