Florence Half Marathon

The third annual Florence Half Marathon offers views of the Siuslaw River, four aid stations with water, GU Energy Gels, Electrolyte beverages, snacks and toilets. All finishers receive a medallion and an additional medallion is awarded to the top 3 in each age group, in 5 year increments. Participants enjoy post-race refreshments and chip timing by Eclectic Edge Racing. Racers fly in for this event, as it is a destination event in Lane County and sees participants from eight states, as far east as Massachusetts. SAVE THE DATE! On Saturday, September 29, 2018 thousands of volunteers will come together to care for Oregon at over 100 hands-on projects, and we want you to be there! SOLVE’s Beach & Riverside Cleanup, presented by the Oregon Lottery has been a family-friendly tradition for over thirty years! Our projects are a great way to explore the outdoors, meet your neighbors and make a difference. Across the state, Oregon’s coast and natural areas continue to face threats from diminishing wildlife habitat, invasive plants, and litter, which flows downstream to rivers and out to the ocean. By volunteering, you’re stopping litter from making journey through our state and out to the coast, ensuring clean and healthy water ways for all. Projects will focus on cleaning up and restoring natural areas and neighborhoods with hands-on work. Supplies and instructions are provided and all ages and abilities are encouraged to join in!…

Circles in the Sand Beach Art @ Driftwood Shores

Join us for a day of drawing on the beach with Denny Dyke from 'Circles in the Sand'. Art, mazes and labyrinths make for a huge walkable image with Heceta Beach as the canvas! Denny will teach us all how to do this amazing art form. Draw out starts at 3pm with grooming at 4:30 ( volunteers welcome ) and the path walk begins at 5pm.

Sunset at Heceta Beach – Circles in the Sand

Denny and Circles in the Sand team will be Drawing at sunset at Heceta Beach. Hosted by Driftwood Shores and Sand Master Park. This is a free event, but even better from one of the Driftwood Shores Guest Rooms!  Make reservations now www.driftwoodshores.com or call 800-422-5091 About Circles in the Sand:    Circles in the Sand Labyrinth artist, Denny Dyke first created Circles in the Sand for his own walking meditations.  He soon became fascinated with the ocean and the ever-changing sand.  After three years and hundreds of labyrinths later, the first Dreamfield Labyrinth was created in September 2014. The path of the first Dreamfield meandered through seven spirals and returned near the entrance.  Today the Dreamfields have grown larger with a path meandering through a much larger pattern.  Always with one path, no dead ends or no wrong turns and returning home.  A true labyrinth experience on the sand.
