I can’t wait! and How can I help? when they heard about the new power pole banners coming to Florence’s Highway 101 corridor.   Here’s how you can be a part of one of the most fun and festive civic pride programs—and economically impactful projects—in Florence’s recent history!   With your support, the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce will install visitor-focused, event-based, and seasonal banners to festoon the new Revision Florence poles (between the bridge and Highway 126) and on the power poles from Highway 126 north to Fred Meyer. Let’s celebrate together this 4th of July!  Florence Habitat for Humanity and the City of Florence are hosting the 2nd annual Porch Parade Decorate your front porch to show your community spirit!    Unleash your creativity and bring a smile to your friends and neighbors. Don’t have a front porch? No problem! Decorate any area visible from the street. Businesses we want to include you too, so decorate your porch and windows and show us your community spirit   A virtual map with the locations of all registered porches will be available so you can plan a walk or drive around our community to see and share in the celebration. Cruise to celebrate our Nation's Independence; vehicles of all types are welcome, but not floats or walking entries. Vehicles are encouraged to be decorated with patriotic bunting, American Flags or Branch Service flags - but please - no commercial or political messaging. Staging at 11:00 a.m. at Florence Christian Church 1st/Ivy Streets; Cruise will terminate at Cross Roads Church 10th/Maple for a short patriotic program.

4th Of July – Fireworks in Old Town Florence

The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce, the Port of Siuslaw and the City of Florence have come together to save Florence’s annual 4th of July fireworks display. The fireworks will be shot over the Siuslaw River from the east end of the Siuslaw Port Campground in Historic Old Town beginning at about 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, to provide a multitude of great vantage points for spectators. We look forward to celebrating our nation’s independence and encourage everyone in Florence to find safe and fun ways to celebrate Independence Day this year and look to the skies that evening for the beautiful display we have planned. A RACE FOR THE REST OF US Race Overview A “race” for a good cause - to raise money for the Lane Council of Governments Senior Meals Program, which provides food to Lane County seniors who might otherwise go hungry. The distance is a whopping 0.5k – nope, that is not a typo! That is half kilometer, or about one third of a mile, or about 546 yards, or about 1640 feet, or about twice as far as the average good golfer can hit a golf ball off of a tee – you get the idea. This is a challenging course but also easy, in fact, we're not exactly sure what it'll look like for you. Could go either way.
