“Out in the Mud” – Clamming Clinics with Mike Bones!
October 5, 2018 @ 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
One event on October 7, 2018 at 5:00 PM
In conjunction with the Wine & Chowder Trail weekend, one of Florence’s most enjoyable natives, Mike Bones, is offering two “out in the mud” hands on clamming clinics on the shores of the Siuslaw River! You get to keep your clams, learn some tried-and-true clamming tips and techniques, and Mike will share some of his secret family clam recipes. There’s something therapeutic about stomping around and digging holes in squishy mud. Scientists say playing in the mud has lots of pluses. It helps increase brain and physical activity and reduces susceptibility to depression and allergens. Take advantage of this super family and friend activity!
PLEASE SAVE YOUR SPOT by calling the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce office at #541-997-3128 or by emailing Terry Abeyta at email@example.com no later than 12noon, Thursday, October 4th.
Each clammer must get a shellfish license, (available at Bi-Mart for just $7 bucks) a bucket, paring knife and small straight shovel (see photos). Oh! and some old shoes for the mud. (see event photo)
