The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 112th Rhododendron Festival Logo Contest.
The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce has named the theme “Coastal Canvas”
“Art is in our lives everyday whether we see it or not. When the space around you looks good, such as the nature around us, physical types of art, well designed streetscapes, you feel good. People do more for each other, spend money spurring economic development, and provides empowerment to a community. With Coastal Canvas being the Rhododendron Theme for 2019, it opens the door to various types of arts and celebrations! We live in an open canvas and we can use what is around us to build upon to thrive. We have visual arts, culinary arts, theater/performing arts, etc… all here in the Siuslaw Region. Celebrating the Arts and our neighbors (and guests to our area) will showcase our skills, kindness and creativity we all possess as people and a region.” says Jo Beaudreaux, owner of BeauxArts Fine Art Materials and Gallery and member of the Florence Public Arts Committee.
Professional and amateur graphic designers of all ages and from across the state are invited to submit logo designs by e-mailing events@florencechamber.com or uploading the file at www.florencechamber.com by Monday, November 26 at 5:00 p.m. for consideration.
The winning design will be printed on official festival t-shirts, commemorative pins, banners, advertisements, and print guides. The grand prize winner will receive a cash prize of $250, a framed festival poster and two tickets to the carnival. They will also earn mention in community wide publicity, online posts at florencechamber.com, and press releases related to the festival.
“We’re looking for fun, original designs that capture the energy of the festival and celebrating our community.” Bettina Hannigan, FACC Executive Director, says of the contest. A full list of rules is available at www.florencechamber.com. Logos must incorporate the Rhododendron flower, a graphic element representing Florence, for example the Heceta Head Lighthouse, and the text “Coastal Canvas”, “112th”, and “ Rhododendron Festival.” Designs may incorporate up to five colors.
Logos may be submitted by email to events@florencechamber.com or uploaded online. A panel of judges will determine the grand prize winner. Artists may create multiple designs for consideration, but must submit each design separately. Companies may participate and will receive a business level chamber membership with a bonus category package if their design is chosen. Self-employed graphic artists or amateur designers may choose the cash prize or sponsorship package.
The 2019 Rhododendron Festival will be held May 17, 18, 19, 2019.
