More than two dozen pieces of art, including photos, watercolors, ceramics, and sculptures in metal and wood, are part of a new art display at the Florence Chamber of Commerce’s visitors center this month
The Chamber features a different local art exhibit each month. Their current display of local artistry features a variety of works by local and Northwest artists from both Sticks and Stones Gallery and The Blue Heron Gallery in Old Town.
“Visitors will find a beautiful display and a wide variety of photography, sculpture, and artwork in several mediums by locally-, regionally-, and nationally-acclaimed artists,” says Bettina Hannigan, the chamber’s executive director.
“It’s exciting to be invited to participate in the chamber’s monthly exhibit,” says Jack Butler, owner of the Blue Heron Gallery, Sticks and Stones Gallery, and Wind Drift Gallery in Florence. “We appreciate the many ways that the chamber supports Florence’s growing and vibrant arts community.”
Butler says his three galleries, entering their 29th year in Florence, are contemporary craft galleries that focus on American made craft.
“We are delighted to have a sampling of Sticks and Stones Gallery and The Blue Heron Gallery’s collection on display at the chamber’s visitor center this month,” says Butler. “Each of our galleries offers something different. The variety found in our galleries, and the other great shops and galleries of Old Town, sets Florence apart from other communities where you go into a half-dozen different shops and find the same thing over and over. There is a tremendous diversity of work in our community.”
“The chamber is listed in the local art tour map because of our ever-changing displays of photography, paintings, or three-dimensional art by local artists and galleries,” adds Hannigan. “Art is growing in its importance for enhancing Florence’s tourism business, and that helps all businesses.”
Sticks and Stones Gallery is at 1368 Bay Street, and The Blue Heron Gallery is at 1385 Bay Street in Florence. Their phone numbers are 541-997-3196 and 541-997-7993 respectively. Their website is oregoncoastgalleries.net.
